What I offer and what each service costs
- I meet with you in person to talk about the person who has died and the kind of ceremony you would like for them. We discuss whether you want it to include spiritual or religious content or not; we talk about music and readings and whether you would like to participate in the ceremony or contribute in some way
- I talk to other family members and friends, if we decide that is required
- I can talk to you about venues if you haven’t already chosen one – remember a funeral can happen in your home, a community venue, or outdoors, as well as a crematorium or burial ground
- I help you find readings, music and poetry and support you as we work out together the most fitting and appropriate elements for the service
- Starting with a blank page, I then create a well-structured, imaginative, unique ceremony which reflects the life, character, beliefs and values of the person who has died. This can include the eulogy as well
- I send the draft script to you, so that you can check everything is accurate and appropriate and we can discuss any amendments you’d like to be made
- If necessary we can have further telephone conversations and/or email exchanges to make sure we have everything just right, even if it means making last minute changes
- I liaise with the Funeral Director about the Order of Service, if this falls in their remit
- alternatively, I can advise on Orders of Service and do a final proof read
- I liaise with the Funeral Director and the venue about timings
- I check that the venue’s IT and sound system works and seek the required help if there are any issues
- I will deliver the ceremony with professionalism and compassion and within the time scale prescribed, as far as that is within my control
- I give you a presentation copy of the service to take away with you, if requested
- I treat your personal information with respect and destroy anything confidential once no longer required, in line with GDPR Compliance
- I carry professional indemnity insurance
- By complying with all of the above, I abide by the Green Fuse Celebrants Guild’s code of conduct
My fees
For a standard length funeral, which includes all of the above – £260
For an extended funeral, for example a double slot at a crematorium, or for a funeral which takes place in more than one location, or at a weekend, we would talk through in detail together what you would like and then agree on an appropriate fee accordingly.
For helping you to plan ahead for your own funeral – £50 per hour
For a ceremony for the scattering or burial of ashes – please enquire
Memorial services
A memorial offers the opportunity for a different kind of gathering, often one with more freedom of choice and flexibility for families, for example around
- where and when it happens and how the venue is set up
- the content and duration of the ceremony
- who might like to contribute or participate, and how
A memorial can be more celebratory in nature. I can support you in making decisions about the venue as well as the structure, content and length of the service. I can guide you with ideas and resources for making the setting special. Together we can create a beautiful service which allows time for people to celebrate a life fully. Families often choose to do this some time after a death, but a memorial can happen at any time.
The best thing to do, if you have any questions, is email me or give me a call, so that we can discuss how I might be able to help you:
